It’s nearly the weekend and you have what seems like a million social obligations coming up that all overlap. In hindsight, you overbooked yourself but you didn’t want to miss out but now you’re mentally rearranging your calendar to make things work. I hear you mama, FOMO is real, and it’s not new - whether you’re a mom or not as humans it is totally normal to feel jealous, envious, or even fearful of not being part of a social message. In today’s episode, I’m talking about FOMO - fear of missing out. What is it, where does it stem from and why do we constantly feel like if we say no or if we opt out we’re going to miss out on some life-changing event or not be like other moms? I cover how these perceptions can lead to thoughts of uneasiness and stress which in the long term won’t benefit you. As moms we already go through so much, we don’t need to fall for these false beliefs that we are missing out on anything. In this episode, we cover:
- What is FOMO and why does it stress you out so much? [1:24]
- Jealousy comes from feeling unsafe, insecure and rejected [5:07]
- Social media is fuel to the FOMO fire - what impact does it have on moms? [7:59]
- We’re projecting our insecurities and teaching our kids that FOMO is okay [15:53]
- Why FOMO has way more power than it deserves and downplaying the power of being a mom [21:36]
- Those who matter don't mind and those who mind don't matter. It’s time to be proud of you [26:15]
